Amber, this is a great choice of stock, and your idea is fab!

The minimal amount of blurred background really brings our attention on the horse as our main focus. I think your cutting ability is good here, and your text is lovely <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

A few things I would like to bring to your attention are the hair, shadow;

I think you have full potential on creating a beautifully wavy mane and tail for this baby! Mainly the crest of the mane and the forelock, as they look a little bit too straight <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> And there are some great tutorials on here to really help you along with painting hair.
The shadow looks does seem to be in the wrong position, especially since my sense of lighting when I view this, is coming in from the right top side of the picture, I want to suggest to you, to look at shadowing in other artists' manipulations here on DA, BUT also, I want to give you a tip that I myself only just started applying to my work.. Instead of using pure black for shadows (unless in a very dark area such as a black cave or black water), use a dark colour located on your picture in the area you wish to shadow - such as in this picture a dark green and brown in those light brown areas.

Apart from said, I think you have done a really brill job ^_^
